What is a Data Union?

The future of data is in YOUR HANDS, not Big Techs.

Every day, 2.5 quintillion bytes of data is created by us, the Internet users. To put that into perspective, if you were to take an equivalent amount of pennies to match that amount of data and lay it out flat, it would cover the Earth's surface five times over (now that's a lot of pennies — unless you live in Canada because they have no pennies.)

There is no denying that we are globally becoming ever more interconnected. Every day another data centre somewhere in the world is born, and another Big Tech executive is excited at the prospect of siphoning your data for their profit, but it doesn't have to be that way.

Through the use of Data Unions, there is a way for people to take back their data and the monetary value that comes with it.

A Data Union is basically when a collective of individuals pool their information together and then get fairly compensated for their contribution. It removes the need for a data-collecting middle man and allows for the democratization of personal data while simultaneously paying out rewards, in digital tokens, for participating (not bad, right?)
